Robotics and automation are transforming industries worldwide, driving economic growth and innovation. In this spirit, the Australian Government has published its first National Robotics Strategy, aiming to develop a robust robotics and automation ecosystem. This strategy calls for a collaborative effort from the government, industry, researchers, and the wider community to support the creation and integration of Australian robotic solutions.
The National Robotics Strategy outlines a responsible approach to integrating robotics and automation across the economy. It aims to scale the manufacturing sector and address labor shortages, potentially adding $170 billion to $600 billion annually to GDP by 2030. The strategy focuses on four key themes: national capability, increasing adoption, trust and responsible development, and skills and diversity.
Several initiatives, including the National Reconstruction Fund, the Industry Growth Program, and the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator, will support the industry in achieving these goals. The strategy was developed with input from the National Robotics Strategy Advisory Committee and extensive public and industry consultation.
